Why is my face so flakey even though I moisturize and exfoliate?

I use a moisturizing gel (aquitanica) every morning and night

I use a loufa cloth every other day and apricot scrub once a week.

After I put my moisturizer on and put my make up on it looks like I'm as dry as a desert! between my eyebrows and my nose esp. are flakey and if I try to srub it off it just gets worse. I like using more natural things on my face and body so if any one has any advise I would love it!Why is my face so flakey even though I moisturize and exfoliate?
it could be eczema. you should go to a dermatologistWhy is my face so flakey even though I moisturize and exfoliate?
I have long suffered the same problem. I found that drinking more water a day and rinsing my face with cold water helped a lot. Too much washing and your oil glands stop working like normal and you get the cracking.
Drink lots of water but it could be the Gel you are using as once its dried it leaves a film on your face which rolls off like skin when you put your make-up on. Try a cream moisturiser for dry skin and wait 5 minutes before putting your make-up on.

Oh and don't use soap on your face as this dries the skin out.
Maybe you're using too many different things on your face too close together.
The same thing used to happen to me, but i used a smoother washcloth to scrub my face and I started using a body butter on my dry spots instead of my usual face cream.

It has more oil so it keeps it moisturized.
See a dermatologist. Not to scare you but some forms of skin cancer appear as flakey skin.
It sounds like all of the different products you're using is drying your skin out. Stop using everything you're using, and go to the store to get a different moisturizing lotion. Then just use that every day, and see if your skin gets better. If it does, then you know the other things were causing a problem. Also try drinking more water, it can really help moisturize your skin.
It's probably because you use too much! Try drinking more water.
The products you're using are probably not Ph correct. The products I use are botanically based and are Ph correct. They are amazing. Let me know if you'd like more information.
Is your water from a the well water
exfoliate less. try once a week. it also may be your makeup.
If you have sensitive skin you may need a gentler cleanser, and a softer object to scrub your face.

Some people like me can't use anything except the most gentle products such as galdermas cetaphil, and my hands to wash my face then pat dry with a clean soft towel.

Also, if you don't drink enough water on a daily basis, your chances of getting dry skin and chapped lips may increase.
Effects of cosmetic residue .
your using WAY too many things thats 1!! and 2 your washing your face too much that drys it out! TRY THIS buy cocoa butter and or shea butter and that all u need!! wash your face only when showering and just use cocoa or shea butter as many times as you want too per day!! if that doesn't work go see a dermatologist cause you mite not just be dry skin.
Perhaps you have Exmas (Spelling) Its just a common skin condition that makes your skin very dry and flakey. A chemist can probably give you something for it.
I always have dry skin. I actually found this pretty cool website that helped me out with it and some other skin questions I have. They also do a live/interactive radio show to answer any questions on skin health in general. Actually, their topic this week is about skin care. Yous should look into it. Hope this helps you!

I have the similar problem only in the winter. I use so much moisturizer it's ridiculous...yet, my skin flakes like crazy. Curious to see the opinions ppl give you cause I need an answer to this question also.
It may be because of how many products you're using...You may be drying your face out. Also, if you use too much moisturizer, that could be a problem as well. Also, sticking to one brand may be a good decision, and only using it for the recommended amount in a day...Hope this helps!
Try one of the moisturizing masks on my profile. Just click my picture and copy the recipes. Either one should help. Both are completely natural and made with stuff you probably have in the house right now..

The alcohols in most creams, lotions, etc dry out your skin. While they appear moisturized for a little while, it's just a coating of petroleum, not actually doing anyting to moisturize the cells.

If you are using acne-control products on your face or the ones taken internally, they stop the ability of your skin to produce oils, so your skin is like the sahara desert.

I have deep cracks in my feet - after exfoliating them they are softer but the cracks end up deepening?

I've been taking better care of my feet for the past 2 weeks and I do see an improvement, but... I feel that when I (extremely or gently)exfoliate them with a pumice or foot buffer the cracks get deeper although my feet get softer.

I am not overweight and have always had troubles with my feet.

What can I do to prevent this? How can I get the cracks to literally heal?I have deep cracks in my feet - after exfoliating them they are softer but the cracks end up deepening?
The first step for at-home treatment is to wash or soak your feet everyday in lukewarm water and a mild soap. You can add a soothing foot product to help condition your feet if you choose. Dr. Scholl鈥檚 and Burt鈥檚 Bees offer great medicated moisturizing products. However, if you鈥檇 rather use items from the kitchen, mixing one cup of honey with a gallon of water and soaking ten to fifteen minutes can drastically improve the moisture in the skin. Honey is also a natural antiseptic and is a safe cure for cracked or bleeding skin. Be careful not to use the pumice stone too vigorously on your cracked feet as it may make them worse.

Second, you鈥檒l need to dry your feet well. Pay close attention to the skin in between the toes. If this area is not dried properly it can create a breeding ground for bacteria and lead to infection. Pat the feet and do not rub harshly or you can cause more damage!

Next, apply a foot cream, lotion or foot ointment. There are many lotions available offering moisturizers such as Vitamin E, shea butter, aloe and more. These are often helpful for dry, but not severely dry skin. Podiatrists and diabetic specialists often recommend a foot cream such as O鈥橩eeffe鈥檚 working feet cream. This cream is not greasy, hypoallergenic, has no odor and contains no oil or alcohol. It helps replenish the skin with glycerin and protect the skin with paraffin. These ingredients help to sooth, hydrate and repair the skin tissue of the feet.

Also wear socks!I have deep cracks in my feet - after exfoliating them they are softer but the cracks end up deepening?
Here is a simple nighttime solution that may work for you and its very inexpensive. Buy a large jar of Vaseline petroleum jelly. Buy a thick pair of white exercise socks, they can be the short ones with no cuff, just something to cover the foot. Wash feet with a good deodorant soap, rinse and dry thoroughly then apply the Vaseline in a generous layer all over the bottoms and between toes and especially on the ball and heels of the feet. Put on the socks and go to bed. When you get up, and remove the socks, you will notice that your feet feel much better, in time the cracks will heal, as you continue to gently exfoliate the rough calloused skin on the bottoms.

Omg i PILLED off a SCAB and now i have PINK skin where the scab was should i moisturize, air dry, or exfoliates?

i made a stupid mistake. i start college monday i dont know if i can where a hat i know it wont be healed by monday but what should i do to help the pink skin/scab moisturize, exfoliates, neosporine or air dry?!?Omg i PILLED off a SCAB and now i have PINK skin where the scab was should i moisturize, air dry, or exfoliates?
Just leave it. There's nothing wrong with it, that's natural. It's healed, the skin is just new.Omg i PILLED off a SCAB and now i have PINK skin where the scab was should i moisturize, air dry, or exfoliates?
Your sore is pretty well healed. Don't exfoliate! It's pink because it's new, tender skin with no protective older skin over it. In a few days it will look less pink. Mostly leave it be. Neosporine or moisturizer won't hurt. You can evaluate whether you think either is necessary.

thats unfortunate! i dont know any free ways but you could try using some self tanning loton, or some spray on nylons? maybe? GOOD LUCK!

What kind of exfoliating soap/lotion is good for getting rid of tans?

I don't think you can get rid of a tan, but maybe you can try some kind of powder or make up.

I heard people with severe acne aren't supposed to exfoliate, is it true or just BS?

I heard that exfoliating will cut up your acne and actually inflame it and make it worse.

I thought it was best to exfoliate at least twice a week to remove all the layers of dead skin that build up.

I have extremely severe acne and am currently on antibiotics, topical treatments, and next month I will be going on the pill. Don't give me crap about my antibiotics or topical treatments because whenever I ask a question people just give me crap about it. I am not asking for your opinion on my choice of treatments, I am asking you if I should exfoliate or not.

I have been exfoliating with proactive gentle formula with 2% salicylic acid but am returning it because it hasn't been working and am buying the St. Ives scrub for acne prone skin.

Yeah so....

To exfoliate or not to exfolilate?I heard people with severe acne aren't supposed to exfoliate, is it true or just BS?
I'm not 100 per cent sure, but my opinion is that it is ok to do so, as long as you are really gentle and don't scrub too hard, otherwise it would aggravate the acne. Also, I would probably do it no more than twice per week.

You should try roacutane, that's what I used as a teenager, and I didn't see another pimple for many years.I heard people with severe acne aren't supposed to exfoliate, is it true or just BS?
I don't think exfoliation will worsen your acne, but it may leave ';ice pick'; scars in the future and these may be difficult to treat. This is from my experience especially with guys with severe acne who picks their acne. Ice pick scars would require dermabrasion procedures, which are expensive.
NO, DO NOT DO IT ! it may leave permanent scars. %26amp; cause infection, then you will have a bigger problem , just do what you are doing. GOOD LUCK

  • What is the correct way to wash your skin and exfoliate it?

i have combination of oily skin the only part that gets slightly dry on my face is by my nose area after i wash my face with my cleanser...my skin tends to breakout once in a while but not crazy like 1 or 2 zits...im a 22yr old male...and i exfoliate my skin with Olay Clarify %26amp; Cleanse Daily Scrub...now i use this once a week is that ok? and should i be using this? i first start off with wetting my face with warm water then i put some of my cleanser in my hands and start to massage it into my face up and down and in circular motion not going all ruff now...after im done i rinse my face with cool water...then after i apply a hot towel on my face for 30 sec how does this all sound? is this wrong? please let me know whats the best way....thanksWhat is the correct way to wash your skin and exfoliate it?
relax, and take 1-2 showers a day, 1 morning and night, RELAX

too much wamr water or hot water or applying with too much for exxagerated amounts can be bad for you + make u itchy and grow more acne and etc. (including too much streesss and brainwork casuess even mroe)

i mean come on, wwat the...

gees for a guy thats soo...wrongWhat is the correct way to wash your skin and exfoliate it?
Sounds like you're doing pretty good, do a gentle massage, don't rub in the cleanser hard. ANd just skip the hot towel part. After you rinse alot, just pat dry gently with a clean towel. If you have any spots, just put on a tiny dab of Olay zit cream (at night) and if any parts are very dry, use a light moisturizer only on the dry parts. (Morn and nite) If you feel some parts are oily, you can use Olay astringent or toner on just the oily parts. morn and nite.
I don't think your way sounds ';wrong,'; especially not if it's working for you. I've recently discovered though that an exfoliating cloth really is a miracle worker. I use it instead of my hands to rub in my cleanser, and I'm really seeing a dramatic difference for the first time in my life. I've always had really terrible skin, and even prescriptions didn't do much for me, but so far, adding this in addition to my normal Proactiv and Thermaclear routine has given me the best results I've ever had.
ive heard before (and this works for me) that you are supposed to rub in circles. wash ur face in the morning and ant night, and in the shower.

    My skin is acne-prone too!

I use St. Ives Blackhead and Blemish Control Exfoliating Cleanser and it is the BEST!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't leave your skin dry, it leaves it clean and fresh and glowing.

It's about $4 at any drugstore and I wash my face twice a day. Morning and night.

The bottle has lasted me 3 months already cause' a little goes a long way.

I HIGHLY recommend this.A good exfoliating wash for pimple prone skin?
I use this stuff you can pretty mucch get at any store, it's an apricot based scrub. I use it everyday and it makes my skin soft and I don't break out near as much. I also use a toner and Moisturize only once a day since I have oily skin already. I use the toner and moisturizer from bath and body works. :)
What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into pimples. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly pimples.

How often should i use a mask and exfoliate?

Hey, i was wondering something. I have sensitive, acne prone skin. I use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser every morning and night, and a moisturizer. Ive been exfoliating with neutrogena acne stress control power clear scrub twice a week (wed. and sun.). Ive been using this routine now for about a month and its been working good. The scrub really helps me not break out. Anyway, ive recently purchased queen helene mint julep masque after seeing and hearing all of these wonderful stuff about it, so i gave in a bought it for $4 at walgreens. In the back of the tube it doesn't say how often this masque should be used, and i was wondering if you could help me figure out a good routine on how often i should use this masque and exfoliate. i would really appreciate it. TY!!How often should i use a mask and exfoliate?
you need to exfoliate just 1 a week no more is unnecessary also if you do it often you can damage your skin.

also use the mask 1 a week or 1 every 2 weeks depends on your skin

if you have sensitive skin or dry skin every 2 weeks is enought.

if your skin is oily you can use it once a week .How often should i use a mask and exfoliate?
It sounds like you have a good skin care regimen! You can exfoliate twice a week, but once a week is also okay if you have more sensitive skin. Masks are good once a week as well, in fact, you can skip cleanser on the day of mask + exfoliation. Just don't forget to moisturize after cleansing/exfoliating/mask!
Use the mask about once a week. I would keep exfoliating twice a week, because that seems to work well for you. Don't do masks to frequently, though, because you don't want to strip your skin of its natural oils.
They should be used once or twice a week.

Definitely don't exfoliate that will irritate your skin

and like the others said its best to use the aloe gel morning

    and night...

in the future when you get burnt make sure you put lotion on

the burnt areas at least twice a day to keep it moisturized and you'll never peel trust me I've been burnt so many times and I never peel because I always moisturize.

Good Luck! :)My sunburnt face is peeling! should i exfoliate?
I would put on some aloe at least twice a day once when you wake up and then when you go to bed. you can also put it on when you start feeling it heating up.
Don't exfoliate. That will irritate your skin more.

Go to Walgreens and get some aloe gel to put on your face. And just keep moisturizing with lotion.

It'll be fine after a week or so.
if u do do it very gently coz if u just go at it with st ives u could make it worse. i would very gently with a face cloth just rub gently in circular motions and let all the dead stuff come off naturally

Is it okay to steam, mask, steam exfoliate, moisturize?

I have a big dance coming up tomorrow at 6PM, and I have two large pimples, one on my forehead, and one by my lip. the rest are little.

What I did was I steamed my face, and than I masked it for an hour, and I steamed again and exfoliated than moisturized. is that okay?

if not, what should I do again tomorrow? ALSO, when I steamed my face, I added 3 drops of Tea Tree Oil to clean my face.Is it okay to steam, mask, steam exfoliate, moisturize?
That's great! You're taking care of your face, which a lot of people fail to do. The steaming opens up your pores, which allows the mask to work better. Just be careful with the exfoliating to not get to the pimples, because if you exfoliate them, your pimple may tear and bleed or something, and it will take a lot longer to heal.

Hope I helped! Have fun at the prom!Is it okay to steam, mask, steam exfoliate, moisturize?
its probly not like you do that everday right ?

i do that to my face like once a week .

so you should be fine .

did you do it to Just those 2 zits

    or your whole face ?

cuz, that might be much for your face.

    anyways what you could do

it soak a cloth in Hot water, %26amp; keep putting it

over your face or just keep putting in on one of the zits

then do it to the other, keep soaking the cloth

%26amp; putting it back on the 2 zits .

repeat that as many times as you want .

it's almost like steaming your face :P

it makes you're skin look nice

after your done all doing that rince your face

with COld cold water, to Tighten those pores.

%26amp; if the zits are red from the hot cloth

it will make that go away too .

you can do this in the morning before you leave .
You should leave your face alone for tonight, you have done enough, maybe too much. After all you did to your face it may break out worse. Anytime you cleanse, steam, exfoliate it brings out impurities in your skin. Be prepared to deal with pimples if they appear. Zinc cream is good to use as a base for makeup, you can get it at a health food store. Good luck, hope for the best.
    yes..its fine..why wouldnt it be?

What are your favourite beauty products (especially exfoliate scrubs and bath soaps)?

    hey ladies.

im working on a project for beauty products aimed at women and i would like to know what you as a woman like.

first of all what is your all time favorite cosmetic product? brand? (as in nivea, j%26amp;j, opal etc).... the one you cant live without....why?

secondly, do you prefer to use natural products that have good results but take time, or are you more likely to use a product that has quick results (these are mainly chemical based)

lastly, are you willing to try something new?

if you have anything else that you would like to tell me about the products that you use... feel free

    thanks...

What are your favourite beauty products (especially exfoliate scrubs and bath soaps)?
I always opt for natural. I often make my own scrubs with essential oils and sugar or salt. I am always open to try new things but I always research to make sure it has not been animal tested. I cannot name one specific product that I cannot live without but I am a fan of many of Burt's Bees products as well as Dr. Bronners Magic Soap. And I also like a nice, natural fragrance (lavender, vanilla, etc...) as opposed to anything ';perfumy.';What are your favourite beauty products (especially exfoliate scrubs and bath soaps)?
I definitely go for natural product... I live in the philippines and i use Ilog Maria's shower gel ,their honey shampoo and facial mask.

I also love Body shop's product...

I can not live without Olive oil (the one you use in the kitchen)... its the best conditioning you can give your hair and your skin...

Cann't say if iam willing to try somothing new... maybe if it has been used already by a friend and it is highly recommended.... dont want to risk getting skin allergies..

  • What's the best way to exfoliate my skin?

After some research about my skin, I'm pretty positive that I need to take care of my skin by exfoliating dead skin cells that aren't shedding properly. This is for my face AND my body.

The only problem is, it seems like there are so many ways it can be done, and I don't know what's most effective. The only info I can get from google searches are websites devoted to products, and of course each one says that THEY'RE the best at exfoliating.

So from your experience what is necessary and what is not?

    1) a rougher-than-normal scrubbing device

    2) a body scrub with slightly-abrasive beads or bits

    3) a soap with Salicylic Acid

    4) a facial mask

It seems like if I used a really rough scrubber along with a soap with bits, it might damage my skin, and I wouldn't be able to really use it on my face. Do I have to get all of them and just see what works? Is there anything you've heard doesn't matter when it comes to exfoliating?

Thanks for your help everyone! What's the best way to exfoliate my skin?
okay, i definitely recommend Biore exfoliating face wash with bead scrubbers... it works i promise you!!!! :) :) and also, use a natural face mask every now and again. but biore is excellent cuz it gets all of your dead skin cells off your faceWhat's the best way to exfoliate my skin?
i am OBSESSED with exfoliation... so ive tried every product out there..

for your face i 1000000% urge you to by ';St.Ives apricot scrub'; its the best thing in the world... its coarse enough yet its so moisturizing and leaves your skin glowing.

as for your body, believe it or not... just exfoliating gloves and normal shower gel will do the trick.. but what i love is what i made...

    all you need is

honey.. how ever much you want

    raw sugar

    * that will make a basic scrub.. and boy does your skin feel so great after.

    you can add...

    ginger slices

    orange peel

    lemon peel. ect

just mix it all together and but it in a jar and leave it in the shower. .( you can also use it on your face.)

anything you like its all good for your skin.... and its awesome.. trust me
never ever use a rough scrub on your face! it will have the opposite effect of what you're trying to achieve. it will cause pimples and premature aging. use a mild scrub on your face, such as oats, fruit seeds, almond meals/or clays. a body scrub may be a bit rougher, with sugar or coarse salt in it, even coffee grings work great at toning legs. In my experience the BEST exfoliating method for your body is through 'dry brushing' this is done through using a cloth (such as agate, sisal, loofah http://fromnaturewithlove.com/scrubs/thu鈥?/a>

this makes your skin (and whole body) so soft and healthy and clear.

Forget a homemade sunless tanner: it would be a disaster. Even the ones you buy don't look all that good, odds are you'd turn yourself orange and wouldn't be able to wash it off-- that would be much worse than white feet.

If the tan on your legs is sunless and you want to tone it down with exfoliation, first use a rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer to remove the excess. Then you can use about any gritty substance around the house to scrub a little deeper-- corn meal, cream of wheat type cereal, even course salt. Just be very careful not to over-scrub and leave yourself raw.

Unless the tan on your legs looks really bad, don't worry about it: since most people are afraid to go barefoot these days, tan legs and white feet are pretty common.

What should i buy to clean, exfoliate and moisturize my face?

Ok so i want to see what the best stuff i can get to clean my face, exfoliate my face and moisturize my face are. I'm going to walmart so don't recommend stuff over the internet or dermatologist stuff.

What's the best way to exfoliate and moisturize?

Alright, just so you know, I get this annoying redness throughout the day, especially when it's too hot or too cold out so I guess you could say my skin is pretty sensitive. I would use a mineral foundation to cover up the redness but even after cleansing and moisturizing, I still get this flakiness and the foundation just brings out the dry skin even more. Any product recommendations or tips? I've heard good things about Ambi, but I'm not sure...

Even though my skin starts out really dry, throughout the day it can get pretty darn oily so I don't want anything too heavy duty...What's the best way to exfoliate and moisturize?
I use Olay microbead body wash, it exfoliates but has lotions to soothe the skin. and I suggest any of the Jergens moisturizes for skin, they work well with dry skin. several of the aroma therapy lotions from Bath %26amp; Body Works are really good as well. I like them because their scents are barely noticeable, but they calm and soothe you. What's the best way to exfoliate and moisturize?

I would say that your best bet would be to go with something from Lush. Lush is a store that hand makes all of their products from all natural ingredients so that you wont get the harmful chemicals which give you the redness.

For sensitive skin you can either use their Ultra Bland Cleanser:

    http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/fac鈥?/a>

    Which is totally amazing.

    Or

You can use their fresh farmacy cleanser, which i would recommend for you because it takes away the blotchy redness. It works wonders.

As far as moisture goes they have a great line or moisturizers as well. A few of my favorites are:

Celestial - which has a very VERY light vanilla scent.

    OR

Imperialis - which smells like lavender its very calming

I know this stuff works because I've been in your shoes and Ive used these products. I was kinda iffy at first about spending so much on the moisturizers and soaps but they are well worth it. Ive had my face lotions for almost a year and I still have over 1/4 left. They moisturize so well that you need barley any compared to a TON from the store bought brands. If you need more info about lush of have questions you can email me. :]

I have the EXACT same problem and I have found no cure-all but if someone has PLEASE let me know! I did figure out a few things that work though. Most anti red lotions make me pale and anything with alcohol make me redder. So basically I mix it up sometimes but the best one I've found is Repechage hydra refine pore perfecting serum. I know it sounds weird but it helps me with the oiliness and even kinda the redness. A lot of redness is irratation and that stuff sooths it. Also anything with retinol helps my skin and make sure your face is semi wet/damp when you put ur moisturizer on. The lotions will seal in the moisture and it helps. As for not getting oily later in the day get those Oil absorbent pads. I forget who makes them but they remove the oil without taking makeup off and it really works! Most drug stores carry them. Any yellow concealers and foundations help cancel out my redness. Good luck!

Why do i get red spots on my legs after exfoliating?

they last several weeks.how do i stop them? Why do i get red spots on my legs after exfoliating?
well first when your exfoliating you might be rubbing to hard, or your skin is allergic to something in the scrub

you might want to switch to something w/out scentWhy do i get red spots on my legs after exfoliating?
If they don't itch then it's just irritated from the exfoliating. Be more gentle. Make sure you use a good moisturizer/lotion/cream after. that should help soothe the skin.

  • Skin Care Questions! Cleanse, moisturize, tone, exfoliate, etc? Huh?!?

I have normal to combination skin type. It's pretty normal but can get a little oily and it can get dry around the nose, especially during the winter. I have a bit of acne, not severe but I have some. I have blackheads on my nose and whiteheads[I think that's what they're called] on my chin, when I suck my lips in and tighten my skin you can see a bunch of little white pimples. I want to know what I should do to achieve healthy, even, clear, clean, and glowing skin!

I've watched lots of videos on Youtube about skin care but i'm confused! There's so many things you have to do and I don't understand what these things even do. What do I do?

    What do I use daily?

    What stops the acne?

    What makes your skin even?

    What makes your skin soft?

    What does each do?

What's all the things I need to do for my face?

Cleanse. moisturize, tone, exfoliate, what else?!

Also, I have St Ives Swiss Formula Apricot Scrub Blemish %26amp; Blackhead control, I heard it's an exfoliater.....what does it do for my skin? is this a daily thing?

Also I have Biore pore strips, know how to use those, but when do I use it during my skin care routine?

I just need to know what I need to do in order to have good skin.

What should my routine be?Skin Care Questions! Cleanse, moisturize, tone, exfoliate, etc? Huh?!?
daily - I use an expensive face wash (sorry, but it is really that awesome that's why I buy it and can't really recommend a cheaper one.) I use the Philosophy Purity facial cleanser which you can purchase at Sephora.

    Stop acne

You should exfoliate once or twice every week. Exfoliate and use a mask every once, twice or half week! Exfoliate means to rid of that layer of excess dead skin which can clog pores and cause more breakouts/acne. Mask is something used to suck up the dirt and bad stuff in your pores, although so many masks never do what they claim.

    - Since you are using St. Ives, I recommend only using once a week, St. Ives' s Apricot scrub is so harsh! (believe me i've tried it)

    - Mask - Aspirin mask gave me clearer skin but only use it every week. It may irritate your skin if you have really sensitive, rosacea or easily allergic skin. I have sensitive/highly allergic skin, and when I first found out about it I went crazy and did it everyday for two weeks AND also used it with another product(which did nothing but irritate, stay with the aspirin only don't use it with other stuff) I got a really Really bad allergic reaction and had to go to the doctor. Now I only use the aspirin mask once a week and definitely without that random mask that I bought at the store.

    - What is it? the aspirin mask is a mixture of a few pills of aspirin crushed with a few drops of water.

    WORKS WONDERS!

Biore pore strips- I'm sorry but I don't recommend these. Although people say that work, they also permanently enlarge your pores like crazy! it happened to my friend =[

toner - to balance the pH of your skin and kind of clears a bit

toner usually makes my skin dry but I tried Clinique's mile toner - the green one, and it is not drying for me. and I have really dry skin!

moisturize - gotta moisturize especially if you have dry skin like me!

I just use Cetaphil's cream that is not specially formulated for face (they do have face stuff too but I just use this because I'm allergic to so much stuff!) it is very moisturizing but not greasy =) another one that's good but not very well priced is Philosophy's Hope in a Jar. - it's very well known and definitely good, but so expensive! =/

for pimples, I use lemon juice! It works pretty well, but nothing wondrous because well pretty much everything else in the market just gives me flaky skin- this does not. Squeeze a lemon into a container into a clean container and refrigerate it(it feels better =)) You can even thin it out with some water since pure lemon may be too acidic. (I'm not sure about that one) Then after you wash your face, get one of those cotton pads or cotton, and then put some on the cotton pad and rub it on your face.

Tip: natural stuff is sometimes better than all the chemicals =)

There, I hope I helped! You can email me if you have more questions! I can give you more expensive answers it's just really hard to explain since your question was so ambiguous! =DSkin Care Questions! Cleanse, moisturize, tone, exfoliate, etc? Huh?!?
I don't have acne, but I do occasionaly break out. I use to clean my skin day and night. But then, I stopped. And you know what happened? My skin was less sensitive, less oily, and my pimples were not irritated or bright red. Stop buying all those products, they just take away the skins natural oils and make the skin dry, and when you apply lotion it clogs your pores and gives you acne. If I get pimples, I use Clean and Clear Acne Spot Treatment it gets rid of the pimple in a couple days. Hope I helped. (:
You Cleanse, Tone %26amp; Moisturize (in that order) in the morning when you wake up %26amp; before you go to bed at night.

    1. A Oil-Free Cleanser with Salicylic Acid will get rid of whiteheads %26amp; blackheads if used as directed. Wet your face with water %26amp; squeeze a small amount of cleanser onto your clean hand %26amp; rub in circular motions all over your face for about a minute, then splash off with Cold water %26amp; pat your face dry with a clean towel.. Face cleanser cleans your face %26amp; keeps it smooth %26amp; healthy. Try brands like Dove, Nivea, Garnier, Neutrogena, The Body Shop, L'Occitane... etc (Get one made for your skin type)

    2. Use a Alcohol-Free Toner on a cotton pad after you have Cleansed your face in the same way you cleansed your face (circular motions on you face, nose etc.. Avoid too close to eyes or lips cause it may dry up your skin) Witch Hazel has a good one.. or you can try brands like Dove, Garnier, Neutrogena, Nivea, L'Occitane... Get one made for your skin type.. Using Toners regularly after cleansing your face closes the pores %26amp; gets rid of dirt, makeup %26amp; oil that your cleanser missed. The proof is on the cotton pad.

    3. Moisturizing is the most important step. Moisturizing your face on a daily basis will help promote hydration, skin cell regeneration, healing, %26amp; prevent damaging effects from external forces %26amp; weather conditions that lead to premature wrinkles, fine lines %26amp; in extreme cases, skin cancer. As a general rule, you should try to avoid facial creams that contain mineral oils, which are petroleum-based, because they might leave a greasy film on your skin %26amp; clog your pores as a result. Also, try to avoid products that contain SD alcohol %26amp; formaldehyde because they will dry up your skin instead of moisturizing it.

Get one made for your skin type.

Apply dabs of cream onto your forehead, cheekbones, chin %26amp; neck %26amp; gently smooth it over the skin in a circular motion, working from the outside of your face toward the centre. Make sure not to leave any residue %26amp; that it gets fully absorbed into your skin. Ideally, you should moisturize your skin morning %26amp; night. But realistically speaking, applying moisturizing to your face once a day -- preferably when you come out of the shower -- should be enough to keep your face looking healthy. It might also be a good idea to use a facial cream that contains some sort of UV protection. For example, a good moisturizer with SPF 15 will provide sufficient protection against dangerous UV rays, which can cause your skin to wrinkle prematurely -- even in the winter months %26amp; on cloudy days.

Finally, remember to maintain a balanced diet %26amp; drink plenty of water on a daily basis, as these are both important factors in maintaining nice %26amp; healthy skin.

    4. To help with the acne %26amp; pimples use a Benzoyl Peroxide product such as 'Benzac AC Acne Gel' after you cleanse... then put your moisturizer on over the 'Benzac AC Acne Gel' as it dries your skin %26amp; makes it peel. If you put moisturiser on afterwards it keeps it from getting all flaky %26amp; dry.

    5. I would recommend you use the St Ives Swiss Apricot Scrub no more than once per week.. Those little exfoliating beads are too rough on your skin. Even though they leave you feeling clean %26amp; satisfied. They scratch the surface of your skin. It gets rid of dead skin cells to make your skin look healthier, glow %26amp; even skin tone. Instead of a scrub maybe use an exfoliator as it's not as harsh on your skin. But only use it once a week.

Use the Biore pore strips after you get out of the shower because your pores will have opened up. Don't use them more times than directed on the pack because it can 'tear' your skin. Make sure you haven't applied any product to your face before you use these. I wouldn't recommend using these.

You don't have to use the same brand of Cleanser, Toner, Moisturizer %26amp; Scrub/ Exfoliator.

Also use a clay mask once a week to absorb excess oil off your face. Tenosix have one that works really well.

    Good Luck
Okay, I have the exact same thing! It can get really confusing, but not if you know what is what and how to use them.

I'll give you my routine, because we are a lot a like, so see if it works for you.

Daily- I wash my face morning (like in the shower) and night (like when you would brush your teeth) with Philosophy Purity Made Simple (department stores). Apply a quarter-sized amount using small, circular motions. Leave it on for approx. 30 seconds, and wipe off completely with a warm, damp washcloth. Next, I wipe my face with Dickinson's Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner (drugstores) using a cotton ball. Witch hazel is very well known for considerably reducing the appearance of pores. Immediately after, I apply Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (department stores) to my entire face. In the morning, I apply sunscreen right after and wait only a minute or so to dry, then apply my foundation.

Every Couple Days- At night, when I normally wash my face, I simply add a couple pinches of plain white sugar (grocery stores) to my normal face wash to use as an exfoliate. This is what keeps your skin so soft. You can also use this trick everyday or whenever you feel like it, because it also helps your makeup go on better. Also, whenever I feel it needs to be done, I'll use Biore Pores Strips (drugstores, but you have them) as directed on box (immediately after washing face, before toner and moisturizer).

For Acne- I tend to break out on my chin, and on my nose. I use any spot treatment with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide (I use Equate [WalMart's generic] Acne Spot Treatment) and apply it to my breakout every night after my daily routine until it clears up.

It might sound confusing, but it's really not. This is what works for me, and it's really kind of simple. Hope it will work for you!

    Best of luck! :)
All of those questions: There is no answer.

What works for me will not work for you, because your skin's chemistry is different than mine, as well as the way my body reacts to ingredients is different than yours. There are so many other factors that play a role in how well products will work that you cannot just simply ask what will work and what won't.

In the morning, you cleanse with a gentle cleanser, moisturize with a moisturizer with SPF in it, and at night, you cleanse and moisturize. Toners are not needed.

Exfoliators are used to remove the dead skin cells and dirt/oil/bacteria from your skin, which can help reduce blackheads and whiteheads. Use it as many times a week as your skin can handle; For some that is once a week, for others it is 5 days a week.

Throw out the Biore strips, unless you are looking to cause unnecessary damage to your skin. It rips off the layer of skin, leaving the area raw, and will only pick up the shallow blackheads. Anything deep will remain.

What stops acne? Who knows. Whatever works for your skin is what will stop it. Some people use products like Proactive, while others simply use very gentle products and change their diets and get results. Same goes for making your skin soft and evening it out.

Is it a good idea to exfoliate my face after sun exposure?

I'm sensitive to the sun at the beginning of the sunny seasons, so I have a red and peeling face right now. It's not bumpy anymore.

So, if it's peeling, does that mean I should exfoliate it gently with a sea sponge or something? Well I already have (yesterday) and it got a bit better, except that today it's peeling a lot more in some places, and not at all in others. I'm wondering if I should just exfoliate that all away or if that means I've done too much. How do I know when I reach that point? The stupid internet says that I will know if my face gets dry, but it's just stupid because my face is already dry to begin with. It wouldn't make a difference.

ehehfa deaehhIs it a good idea to exfoliate my face after sun exposure?
First of all, don't do it after major sun exposure, do it before hand. But definitley exfoliate and moisturize, but don't go overboard with it. Only exfoliate about every 4 days to a week. Exfoliation just removes dead skin, but doing it too much can just irritate the fresh skin, so keep it to a minimum. Is it a good idea to exfoliate my face after sun exposure?
It couldn't realy hurt, But to prevent peeling in the first place use aloe vera jel or lotion.

What's the best product to exfoliate your body?

Actually, you want to know what's the best?

every day , with your favorite body wash use the loofah. When they are new they kind of hard, so go gently, then with every day use it becomes softer, Honestly I've using for years and my whole body skin is as soft as a baby, then I put on every day my bath%26amp;body and Victoria's body lotion. No bumpy rash on any part of body. Try it! make sure to rinse it very well after each use,.What's the best product to exfoliate your body?
There is a product made and distributed by a young woman out of Dallas Texas. Margo's Mixtures by Margo MacIntosh. It is BY THE VERY BEST I have EVER used. I have extremely dry skin. She was one of my neighbors and gave me some to try. It is the softest and healthiest my skin has been since I was a girl. She is licensed and has been in the beautty trade for 10 years. She developed it for her clients. It was such a terrific product that it just took off. You can purchase on line at margosmixtures.com She has two scents. I prefer the sand and sea collection. It smells like orange blossams and makes you want to jump into the bottle...very clean. I use the entire line but you can get by with just the dead sea salt body scrub. I shave and shower with the shower gel. The body lotion is a part of my morning routine and has been for 4 years now, I even use it on my face. The molecules are small enough to actually penetrate the skin without feeling greasy and sitting on top of the skin and transferred on to my clothing. Try it, she has a money back guarantee. PLUS, she is a lovely person, dedicated to skin care. Her product is featured in gift baskets on MTV among other places. She has quite the local following and is starting to catch on nationally. Tell her Terri sent you, I gave gift sets at my wedding and give it to all my girlfriends and female family members for ALL occasions requiring gifts. What's the best product to exfoliate your body?
my therapist uses a mild moisterizing cream over the skin then sprinkles sea salt over it and proceeds to rub it all over. After a rinse she covers the skin with a non oily moisterizer. Feels great
loofahs!! scrub away your dead skin cells %26amp; allow your beautiful clean skin to shine through!! it helps with circulation %26amp; helps get rid of cellulite!

you shouldn't use all those treatments. I suggest Retina-A micro, the not so strong kind (in the gray tube). I used ProActiv and it's FANTASTIC. I also suggest you go to a dermatologist, they help A LOT.Okay what does it mean to exfoliate cleanse and w/e?! {pics included}?
Don't exfoliate every day. Once or twice a week should be enough. I suggest you use just one cleansing product and good moisturizer. Too many products will do more harm than good to your skin.
id just say that its ok

but i think its enough with a facial scrub and a cream....

    too many products /

ur not old to be using too much stuff on ur face it will make u age faster
Yes you are using an exfoliating scrub. St. Ive's makes specifically exfoliating creams, and you use one. I think that you're regimen is perfect.

I use St. Ive's Exfoliating Scrub, after I wash my face with Clean %26amp; Clear Acne Wash (Deep Clean, or something like that). Then I apply Witch Hazel using cotton swabs to kill bacteria and sweep away any extra dirt.

I use small amount of Olay mixed with water to moisturize (less than a quarter-sized drop). If you mix your moisturizer with lotion or wet your skin right before you moisturize, your skin will look really dewy and fresh.

Tips: If you want your lips to be super smooth, apply a small amount of toothpaste and vaseline to your lips at night. When you wake up the next morning, put some toothpaste on your brush and brush your lips. Then, use the St. Ive's scrub on your lips to remove any dead skin cells. It works wonders!

for curing acne and all your skin problems

I know what exfoliating is but I am really unsure about how to go about it.?

Is there a different process for homemade than there is facial scrubs or what? If you could just tell me step by step the order of what you have to do. Do you wash your face, moisturise, exfoliate or another way round. Pls tell me.I know what exfoliating is but I am really unsure about how to go about it.?
If I were you, I wouldn't bother. I spent years buying loads of different face washes, scrubs, toners etc., and it was a waste of money. The more you do to your skin, the more irritated it becomes, and the more oil it produces. And more oil leads to more spots.

I recommend you just wash your face twice a day with an antibiotic face wash, and then moisturise using a water-based moisturiser. Anything more just damages your skin.I know what exfoliating is but I am really unsure about how to go about it.?
Exfoliating just means a very small ammount of roughness against any area of your skin to help get rid of old dead skin cells. You can get an exfoliating scrub with which you wash your face or you can get exfoliating gloves or a sponge with which you can use any old face wash, or none if you just want to exfoliate. Then you gently pat dry and always moisturise after you've washed otherwise you're just washing it away!

If you get exfoliating gloves you can exfoliate your whole body in the shower!
ways to exfoliate your body would be in the shower with a loofah (poofy sponge) and body wash - either an exfoliating one with beads or a regular one. i like Caress Tahitian Renewal.

i wash my face with lukewarm water to open the pores, dispense cleanser on my fingers and rub on my face in circular motions - an exfoliater could be your cleanser - a face wash with beads in it. than after 30 sec/a minute or so, wash off with lukewarm water and finish with cold right after to close the pores and tighten the skin to help keep skin looking young and fresh. i then moisterize with a face lotion that has at LEAST SPF 15 and if its greasy, i lightly powder my face (if i don't want to point foundation/tinted moisterizer on). i currently use Clearasil Face Wash - with a pump dispenser and Almay moisurizer for combination skin (Cetaphil also has a good face lotion)

at home remedies could be using raw egg or plain yogurt with table salt or sugar.
To avoid irritation, start with the corner of a washcloth with facial soap on it. Lightly rub your face %26amp; neck in small circles, rinse, pat dry and moisturize.

If your skin is ok, no red itchy blotches that hurt, you can move up to something more coarse than a washcloth like a facial loofa (come in little circular pads- one side is softer than the other) that cost $2 or so.

*Choose a good soap with fewest chemicals (I am in love with 'Kiss My Face' soaps that come in a pump).

*After you rinse off the soap with warm water, splash your face with really cold water- this makes your freshly exfoliated pores 'tighten'.

*Choose a good moisturizer that's light and easy for your skin to 'drink up' really well. Change brands from time to time so the product stays effective.

I don't like bottled exfoliators- soap with beads and stuff in them because it takes a long time to get the results you can get with just one or two goes of a nice soap %26amp; coarse pad.

Don't put too much pressure on your face- go lightly to gently remove the dry layer(s) of dead skin. You don't want to scratch yourself. I have a routine that works for me- I was a welder %26amp; came home everyday with filthy skin! By doing what I did and still do, I rarely had even one zit.

Sorry so long, hope it helped! :)
Theres body wash with beads that I use in the shower with a wash cloth or something to exfoliate..then i get out of the shower and put lotion on to moisturize.
Just wash your chops, the rest is made up to make you give

  • How do you prepare to exfoliate before a spray tan?

i'm due to have a spray tan for the 1st time on sat for a huge night out following weight loss... i've gone to a highly recommended tanning salon and have been advised that i need to exfoliate before hand.. i've never done this before, so dont know when i should start exfoliating and i'm a little clueless about what product to buy, someone has said apricot scrub is really good, i've heard a couple of horror stories about it going patching and now i'm really worried that i will look awful. Is there anything that i should know/do to prevent me looking like an umpa lumpa.. Thanks How do you prepare to exfoliate before a spray tan?
I did the spray tan.. and as long as you use a wash cloth and a moisturizing body wash like Dove or Olay, they work fine.. you don't need a fancy exfoliating scrub,, that;s just optional.. just a wash cloth and some body wash will help get any dead skin cells off.. so your tan will look smoothHow do you prepare to exfoliate before a spray tan?
apricot scrub is really good. anything grainy so it will get off all of the dead skin.

also use lotion before you go. regular lotion. especially on your face, elbows %26amp; knees so you wont look orange.
Personally I always get Master Bates to give me me a rough going over with a P60 sandpaper followed up by Roger the cabin boy using some P240 emery paper (P400 for all those ';sensitive'; bits'; for a final gleaming finish.

Has anyone used/tried Inecto pure coconut oil exfoliating leg and body scrub?

i wanted a decent body scrub for my legs (i have ingrown hair) and i recently purchased this body scrub from Bodycare and it seems really good but i was wondering if anyone else used it and it helped them with their skin problems..thanks.Has anyone used/tried Inecto pure coconut oil exfoliating leg and body scrub?
How exactly does a scrub or exfoliator take care of skin problems? It doesn't. It helps shed the dead skin on the surface but it does nothing to solve any blemishes.

R U supposed to exfoliate african american skin everday?

The lady at the beauty store told me that i SHOLD BECOUSE BLACK SKIN NEEDs MORE INTENSE MOISTURE AND exfoliating the body everday will relieve the skin and keep it moisterizedR U supposed to exfoliate african american skin everday?
i've never heard that before, but extensive exfoliation can sometimes irritate/damage the skin. so if you're going to do it every day, make sure to use a gentle exfoliant. also it really depends on ur skin, do u find that u have dry skin??? if not then i would only exfoliate every other day, or 2-3 times a week, whatever u feel is necessary for ur skin.

i have mildly dry skin and i find that using a moisturizing body wash and a body poof works best for me.

moisturizing is important for anyone's skin. i would find a good daily moisturizer that u like and use it when u get out of the shower every day. again if u find that ur skin is dry then definitely go for a more intense moisturizer (something with shea or cocoa butter should work nice). but if u have normal skin (which kind of ranges from slightly oily to slightly dry) then a regular moisturizing is fine (try johnson %26amp; johnson's 24 hour moisurizer).

it's ur body, so listen to it. try a few things out and see what works best for uR U supposed to exfoliate african american skin everday?
actually exfoliating takes moisture AWAY from your skin. And it has nothing to do with if you are white or black all skin within every race is different. My advice is to go and get a facial and ask what type of product is right for your skin. They do facials @ Ulta for like 40 bucks and the asthetitian (i KNOW i spelled that wrong!!! lol ) will be able to help you out.
no. no matter which skin do you have, do not exfoliate your skin mechanically everyday. it may make your skin smoother, but it may give you a lot of damage. exfoliating removes dead skin cells, grime and dirt but it also takes away some moisture. that's why most beauty advisors call for a moisturizer after scrubbing.

instead, exfoliate your skin once a week. that's enough to make your skin healthier and better.
i dunno i am tan so i dont ever have toworry about getting a tan
Hi Ashanti, this may sound crazy but exfoliating your skin is not actually good. It can look good in short term but long term it can make ppl look older then they would of if they had not tried all the current products. All the good dermatologists say soap, water and moisturiser or just moisturiser is all any one needs. some good Vitamin B cream and some Vitamin E and a sunscreen is more then enough.

Help!!! How do you exfoliate for my dry, flaky, and acne prone skin?!?

OMG my skin is soooo dry. I had dry skin before, but ever since I started using Proactiv, it has become drier because of the benzoyl peroxide. Proativ has actally helped clear my skin a lot, but it's just really dry. And it's flaky and you can see my skin like peeling off!! It;s so annoying and ugly!!! My make up looks horrible (and I don't even use a lot of make up. I use proactiv makeup). ANd I use moisturizer, but it still doesn't help.

Instead of putting stuff on my face (like moisturizer), I want to take off this dry skin!!! like exfoliate....but how do u exfoliate? what do u use???? like the St. Ives scrubs? I don;t like those....what else?Help!!! How do you exfoliate for my dry, flaky, and acne prone skin?!?
First of all,u should not exfoliate ur skin since this could only make ur skin worse than before.Try to switch to another cleanser that suits dry skin and gives moisture while u cleanse.I would recommend u to use Skin Medica,Neova or Murad cleanser since these cleansers moisturize ur skin while cleansing and gentle to ur skin.U could also opt for Clinique's moisturizer since it hydrates ur skin gently. However,if u would like to opt for remedies at home,I would recommend these 3 different steps for u to try at home.

-Make a puree of 1 banana and 1 papaya, peach or avacado. Apply to skin.Leave on for at least 20 minutes then rinse with warm water, followed by a moisturizer of natural margarine or natural vegetable oil.

-Apply natural mayonnaise, either homemade or from natural foods store.Massage into skin, leave on for 15-20 minutes, rinse thoroughly with warm water.

-Grate the rind of one whole lemon into 4 tablespoons plain yogurt.Mix and rub over entire body concentrating on the driest patches. Rinse.

Well, these are those remedies that would work best for ur skin type.Good luck trying this at home at great skin wishes.Help!!! How do you exfoliate for my dry, flaky, and acne prone skin?!?
I would Not try to exfoliate just yet. Your skin will only flake more if you do that. Use Olay Moisturizer twice a day, after washing your face + Pat dry! Don't Rub when drying off your face after washing! Try not to scratch your face either- even though it is probably itchy! I tried Proactive once upon a time too and it failed for me, so you might want to rethink continueing with it. Plus, for a little while, I would not use any concealers, foundations, and/or especially powders.

How often should I exfoliate? And should I do it at night or in the morning?

Hey Kelly, as a dermo-tech i get this question a lot. It is quite a hard question to answer, as in that each skin has different requirements. As a general rule exfoliate once to twice weekly at night. Post exfoliation time is also great for mask's and serums to be applied after. Also go easy on the granular scrubs, as I see a lot of damage caused from the good old ';apricot blasting';How often should I exfoliate? And should I do it at night or in the morning?
i choose to exfoliate in the morning after i brush my teeth because it feels so refreshing rather than at night... i do it every two days. i use clinque. its about 13 dollars and its the BOMBHow often should I exfoliate? And should I do it at night or in the morning?
I would say every two or three days. If you do it every day it can really dry out your skin. And I would suggest doing it at night. That way it gets rid of the days dead skin and the dirt from the day.
yup. Exfoliating helps remove dirt and dead skin cells. Doing it once or twice a week will give you a soft and glowing skin. You can use loofah with liquid soap or even those with exfoliating beeds. I've tried using liquid soap mixed with brown sugar. It works pretty well!
I would suggest you that you exfoliate your skin 1 to 2 times a week. Both of our gommage exfoliators gently buff away dulling surface flakes, unclogs pores and smooth out skin as it exfoliates. It does not matter whether you exfoliate morning or night, but be sure to cleanse and tone your skin first as exfoliators are not cleansers.

The best way to exfoliate my skin without using chemicals. i wanna try it with natural products.?

i have lots of white heads on my face especially nose which are resulting in to pimples n sometimes black heads too and have cause lots of open pores i m rlly worried abt it..my skin rlly looks ugly...pls gals...help me gettin rid off.The best way to exfoliate my skin without using chemicals. i wanna try it with natural products.?
If you are having major problem then you can go for a daily cleanup in some gud beauty saloon.

Or you can use some scrubs which you get in market , but you said you are looking for some natural scrub , so here are they:

    1) Mix one tsp of chickpea flour (besan) and 1/2 tsp of rawa / suji , 2-3 pinches of turmeric , make a paste by putting some milk.apply this on your face %26amp; neck , let it dry for some time , once it becomes half dry , remove this by rubbing with your hands , this will exfoliate your skin.

2)This process needs some amount of preperation , but you can give it a try. Take fresh orange peel , dry them under sun for few days %26amp; grind it to powder (slightly coarse) %26amp; then use this as a face pack %26amp; remove it as i told in 1st method.

After these face packs you can message a little papaya pulp on your skin to make it look fresh and soft (if it suits your skin type)

I hope this will help you

gud luckThe best way to exfoliate my skin without using chemicals. i wanna try it with natural products.?
Try putting granules of sugar in yuor cleanser. Rub gently and rinse well. You need to steam your skin (over a bowl of hot boiling water with a towel over your head) this will open the pores and help the black and white heads come out. DO NOT PINCH them ~ you will regret it !!!
Dry your face with a rough towel. It will remove the layer of dead skin.

It sounds like you need to see a dermatologist.
No chemicals, huh? Well you could get a laser peel at the dermatologist, thats no chemicals. Or you could continue to rub your face raw and hope it'll clear up and then deal with the scarring from the black heads and pimples later.

If you want a simple exfolliant use sugar, olive oil, and lemon juice. The sugar will exfolliate as will the lemon juice and the olive oil will moisturize (more important than exfolliating). But you CAN'T scrub your pimples away. You need a prescription.
    Hi,

More and more products are using natural ingredients on the market today, so finding some may be a little easier than it used to.

If you try and search around for exfoliaters which contain hydroxy acids (alpha hydroxy acids and/or beta hydroxy acids) then this will really help woth exfoliating your skin. You should exfoliate two times a week, but do one extra day of exfoliation on your nose since it is worse there.

I am using a product by Dermalogica called Gentle Cream Exfoliant. It is a natural product and contains the acids that I was talking about. It is a little expenseive, but is well worth it.

See, the whiteheads are areas where the dead skin cells are not shed properly, and so they build up and become a white head. The hydroxy acids will help to detach these dead skin cells.

Remember to have an appropriate clenser, toner and moisturiser too.

    Good luck :)
use a gud exfoliatin scrub.... once a week.. and get a face clean from a beautician once a month... wil help...
Burts Bee's has some amazing skin products that are all natural and can really improve your skins conditon. Try looking them up. Also, your probably should wash your face often and wash your sheets every week or so to prevent the oil from your hair, spreading onto your face. =]]
Take some oatmeal flax and mix little rose water.Scrub your face for around 7-8 minutes. Initially it would be difficut to hold the scrub mixture but after scrubbing it for a minute or so you will be able to scrub easily. Wash off with cold water. This will not give you the change just in one time, you need to repete it for 2-3 days twise daily.

    cheers!
The best product you can use is the Enzyme Exfoliator Scrub from the Papaya Enzyme skincare products by Bee Luscious Cosmetics. Its incredible.
    hi Arpi,

ill try keeping it short if possible use less of make up and try and keep your skin as clan as possible don't use harsh face-washes on your skin just splash cold water over and now coming to your main concern the best way to exfoliate your skin would be by taking around a tsp of sugar wet your skin and then start massaging the sugar granules over your skin in circular motions then rinse of with cold water and pat dry, then rub a cube of ice over your skin this will help close the open pores, also try mixing 1tsp of glycerin with a 1tsp each of honey, rose water, and milk apply this with a cotton swab all over your face and allow to dry for at least 15 mins then rinse and pat dry,im sure girl Arpi it will help you out because these are age old grandmas secrets which your and my granny must have used in those times when they never had any fancy face-washes and scrubs right?

    Jamaica.... LOL

Yes it is OK, but as long as the condition is not eczema related.

I have done it myself - used St. Ives Apricot Scrub (£3.99) and ALWAYS make sure you apply a moisturiser afterwards..... I use Lab Series Treat (£15.99, mankind.co.uk).

Basically, make sure the moisturiser is one that is recommended for the harsh weather. Other good ones are Zirh and Anthony Logistics.

Nothing wrong in a man wanting to look after himself. Good luck!Is it ok to exfoliate your ear lobes?
    Aw, bless.

Naw, exfoliation will make it worse as it ';scrubs'; the skin. What you need is moisturisation.

    I like the vaseline moisturiser.

Use it on your ears, nose, chin, forehead and especially HANDS.

I like to use it on my knees and elbows too as the skin on them tend to get drier throughout the cold.

    Hope I helllped.
aw poor you %26amp; yr ears.......use some Sudocream as is excellent as my son gets red sore ears also %26amp; put that on your ears at night time and will heal really fast and rub some in before you go out also as will protect them........afternoon Carlos :) edit: get yourself a warm hat for wearing when you are out %26amp; about, will keep those little ears protected %26amp; cosy........ :)

Is it ok to exfoliate everyday with a face cloth?

Every day in the morning I exfoliate my face with a face cloth, its rather soft, but its just a common washcloth and I do it quite gently to make sure to avoid redness and irritation. I do it right after washing my face and get the washcloth wet, and my face and rub gently everywhere and then I rinse my face again. Is it ok to do this every morning or should I start every second day because it seems to help me a lot and I have mild - moderate acne.

Any ideas or something better to exfoliate with?Is it ok to exfoliate everyday with a face cloth?

I've heard exfoliating is getting rid of dead skin cells, so to make an exfoliater (I don't want to buy one) I could just take some sugar and olive oil and rub it all over my body? Would that work? When should I do this, before I shower or after? Also, what is an exfoliating brush and when should I use it?

  • Best way to exfoliate?

Very cheap way is sugar ! Get a little wet and then rub whereever with sugar. No chemicals..no dyes..just natural! Works wonders!! Then simply wash off!Best way to exfoliate?
let me add also to only exfoliate no more than twice a week cause itll make your skin dry out and thatll make it overproduce oil and that aint goodBest way to exfoliate?
i exfoliate during shower, face and body. ................
a scrub is best for you body, but for you face the safest thing to do is use an exfoliant with not beads or grains but acids. there are exfoliants that have natural acids and chemicals that sloth off dead skin with out doing any damage the the skin underneath. and it has much less a chance of accidentally scrubbing off skin that you don't want to rub away, which can actually leave your face even more flaky than it was before
For your face, use Biore Pore Packs and apply them on your nose. Then use Biore Men's Exfoliating Facial Foam (works for ladies as well) for the rest of your face.
you can't go wrong with a once-a-week face and body exfoliating regimen with st. ives apricot scrub.
dead sea salt, rub it on your body while you shower. for face, find some exfoliating face wash

How do u exfoliate ur legs?!!?

is it some kind of lotion or something?!!

(:How do u exfoliate ur legs?!!?
use one of those exfoliating gloves. you just wet it, put a bit of shower gel on it and rub your legs/any body part, with it. It's amazing. they're only 拢1 or so and last for weeks. How do u exfoliate ur legs?!!?
Exfoliating works on abrasive principles. The whole idea is to use something with a hard, yet gentle, substance inside to rub off dead skin cells and clean deeply. There are a wide range of exfoliating skin products. Usually with bits of gritty/sandy stuff in a lotion or cream.

you could use an exfoliating body scrub, but I either dry brush or use exfoliating gloves once or twice a week. those two options are like WAY more affective than the scrub =)

    What is exfoliate?

It is the act of removing a layer of (presumably) dead skin cells. It is best done carefully, however, because you can also damage live cells if you are too harsh. Years ago there used to be a thing called a Buff Puff sold, which was supposed to exfoliate the skin. I asked a cosmetologist about that one time, and she said I should use them on my pots and pans! She's right; they greatly resembled Scotch Brite! What is exfoliate?
