Should I exfoliate my son?

My 12 year old son has extremely bad skin esp on most of his body, esp his legs, shoulders arms and back. Should I exfoliate him to get the dry dead skin off him or is there something better that I should do? He does not have any skin disease like eczema, just dry skin.

please give any advice thanks!Should I exfoliate my son?
Oatmeal baths and a good severe dry skin lotion. Don't exfoliate as it will make him more raw and irritated. Wait until it warms up for that. Good Luck!Should I exfoliate my son?
Eczema is not a disease because it's not catchable. You can try using Aveeno products such as the lotion for dry skin, body wash or aveno body bath oil.
He should probably be on daily fish oil supplements and borage oil. It takes 3-9 months for them to really make a noticeable difference but they do work. Health magazine has a healthy skin diet in it this month. It consists of eating healthy fats throughout the day every day. A handful of almonds, walnuts or sunflower seeds. Olive oil, safflower oil, salmon...and fish oil will reduce inflammation and cut down on acne too.

Also he should be drinking a lot of water.

I don't see any reason why he can't exfoliate. Some sugar or sea salt in the shower or a loofah will work.

But most important to fix the skin from the inside out.
